Practical tips
Editorial- A 90 minute Prague public transit ticket covering metro, tram and bus costs 50 CZK on paper or 46 CZK in the PID Litacka app as of the January 2026 fare increase, and must be validated once at the start of the trip.
- The Airport Express bus from Vaclav Havel Airport to Praha hlavni nadrazi costs 200 CZK one way as of January 2026, after the fare was doubled from 100 CZK. Regular Prague transit tickets are not valid on this line.
- Prague Castle's main Circuit ticket, covering the Old Royal Palace, St George's Basilica, Golden Lane and St Vitus Cathedral interior, costs 450 CZK for an adult and 300 CZK for a concession. The castle grounds and courtyards are free and open daily from 6am to 10pm.
- Citizens of the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and roughly 55 other visa exempt countries can stay in the Czech Republic and the wider Schengen area for up to 90 days within any 180 day period without a visa.
- At ATMs and card terminals in Prague, always choose to be charged in CZK rather than accepting the machine's offered home currency conversion, known as Dynamic Currency Conversion, which typically carries a 3 to 7 percent hidden markup.
- Prague's shared e scooter rental services have been banned citywide since January 1, 2026, and organized bar crawls are prohibited between 10pm and 6am under new city rules.
