A grand cafe in Mala Strana, Prague, under a restored 1893 neo-Renaissance ceiling, with a bakery counter and a breakfast menu served from opening.
For the ceiling and the breakfast, in that order. It is the best-preserved cafe interior in the city that functions as an ordinary cafe rather than a monument.

Expensive by Prague standards. Weekend queues. Across the river from the Old Town, though that is also part of its appeal.

Go on a weekday morning when it opens at 08:00, which is the only time the room is calm. Look up before you order. Use the bakery counter if the sit-down price is more than you want to pay.

Tram to Ujezd, then two minutes on foot. It is about ten minutes' walk from the Charles Bridge.

Cafe Savoy charges 535 CZK for the continental breakfast and opens Monday to Friday 08:00 to 22:00, Saturday and Sunday 09:00 to 22:00, and 09:00 to 22:00 on public holidays. The ceiling is the reason to come. It is a neo-Renaissance original from 1893, restored rather than replaced, and it is the finest room of its kind in Prague that you can sit in without buying a concert ticket.
