A museum spread across several historic synagogues and the Old Jewish Cemetery in Josefov, Prague's former Jewish quarter, documenting Bohemian and Moravian Jewish life and the Holocaust.
The Pinkas Synagogue memorial and the Terezin children's drawings are among the most direct confrontations with the Holocaust available anywhere, and the surviving quarter around them is unusually intact.
Several major sites on one ticket, all within a few minutes' walk. Exceptional memorial and exhibition content. The Spanish Synagogue's interior is astonishing on its own terms.

Start at the Pinkas Synagogue early, before the tour groups, and let the cemetery follow it. The quarter is small enough that the order matters more than the timing. Dress respectfully; heads should be covered in the synagogues.

Josefov, the former Jewish quarter, wedged between the Old Town Square and the river. Much of it was rebuilt in the nineteenth century, which is why grand apartment buildings surround medieval synagogues.

Access varies by site: the Spanish Synagogue and Pinkas Synagogue are largely step-free, the cemetery path is uneven cobble and gravel.
