Share your experienceThe Jewish Museum in Prague charges 600 CZK for adults, 400 CZK for students under 26, 200 CZK for children aged 7 to 15, and admits children under 6 free. The ticket covers the museum's sites in Josefov rather than a single building. The Pinkas Synagogue is why people come and why they leave quiet. The walls carry the names of roughly 80,000 Czech and Moravian Jewish victims of the Holocaust, hand-painted, name after name, room after room. Upstairs are the drawings made by children held at Terezin. The Old Jewish Cemetery, with its twelve thousand crowded headstones, and the Spanish Synagogue's Moorish interior are part of the same ticket. Josefov is small, so the whole circuit is walkable in an afternoon.
What was great
One ticket covering several genuinely important sites in a compact quarter. The Pinkas Synagogue is among the most affecting memorials in Europe. The Spanish Synagogue is spectacular in an entirely different register.
What nearly ruined the trip
Six hundred crowns is a serious price in Prague terms, the circuit is busy for most of the year, and the narrow cemetery path funnels everyone into single file. The Old-New Synagogue is not included in the basic museum ticket, which surprises people.
