Practical tips
Editorial- Buy a 1,000 ISK Klapp card or use the app rather than paying on board, since Straeto fare capping stops charging an adult after three rides in a day or nine in a week.
- Take the standard Flybus at 3,999 ISK to the BSI terminal instead of the 5,299 ISK Flybus+ hotel drop unless you have heavy luggage, because central Reykjavik is a short walk or bus from BSI.
- Bring your own towel and swimsuit to the municipal pools, where entry is 1,500 ISK but towel rental is 860 ISK and swimwear 1,270 ISK.
- Pay the Thingvellir parking fee once, 1,000 ISK for a standard car, because a single payment covers the P1, P2 and P5 lots for the whole day.
- Book the Blue Lagoon at least two weeks ahead, since the operator states it is generally fully booked and pre-booking is essential.
