Practical tips
Editorial- Avoid drinking in Temple Bar itself, where a pint runs about 10.95 euros at The Temple Bar pub; walk a few streets away and the Dublin-wide average pint price drops to roughly 6.97 euros.
- Book Guinness Storehouse tickets online in advance; the Standard Experience starts at 22 euros per adult and busier time slots sell out.
- Buy a Leap Card for transit. Zone 1 fares automatically cap at 6 euros a day and 24 euros a week for adults across Dublin Bus, Luas, DART, and commuter rail, so extra trips after you hit the cap cost nothing more.
- Book hotels as early as possible. Savills research reported by RTE in June 2026 found Dublin hotels running around 84 percent occupancy, effectively full four nights out of every ten, so late bookings mean picking from whatever is left at a premium.
- If booking a short-term rental instead of a hotel, look for a Failte Ireland registration number on the listing; Ireland's Short-Term Letting and Tourism Bill, approved in 2025, requires it, with compliance mandatory by December 31, 2026.
- Keep valuables close and stay alert on O'Connell Street and in Temple Bar crowds; pickpocketing, not violent crime, is the realistic tourist risk, and O'Connell Street specifically had enough visible antisocial behavior that a city taskforce was created in January 2026.
