Practical tips
Editorial- A single ZVV ticket in downtown zone 110 costs 6.80 francs, the same fare that covers the airport train into the main station, so budget the same amount whether you are crossing town or arriving from the airport.
- Swim for free at the public river baths at Oberer and Unterer Letten on the Limmat, or at the women only Frauenbad Stadthausquai floating bathhouse on the lake, which has free lockers but requires you to bring your own padlock.
- The Swiss franc hit an eleven year high against the dollar by January 2026 after gaining 12.7 percent through 2025, so convert money expecting every price to feel more expensive than it did even a year earlier.
- If your schedule allows a later start, buy the 9-UhrPass instead of a standard day card, since it is discounted specifically for travel beginning after 9am.
- Do not assume a free transit card comes automatically with a hotel stay in Zurich the way it does in some Swiss resort towns; no such city wide program is documented, so budget for tickets or a day card separately.
- Museum admission runs from about 13 francs at the Landesmuseum to 16 francs at the Kunsthaus, and the paid Zurich Card bundles free museum entry with transit discounts if you plan to visit several.
