Travel buddies in Spain
Spain eats late, stays out late and celebrates constantly. It is one of the best countries in Europe to meet people, and one of the worst to eat dinner alone at ten at night.

How people pair up in Spain
Tapas are designed for sharing, so a tapas crawl is the most natural buddy plan in the country. Barcelona is the most visited city, and people team up for the beach, Montjuïc and nights in the Gothic Quarter. The Camino de Santiago is the other big one: thousands of walkers start alone each year and most of them walk at least part of it with people they met on the way.
When people go
Spring and autumn are the most comfortable. Festivals set a lot of trips: San Fermín in Pamplona runs 6 to 14 July, La Tomatina in Buñol happens on the last Wednesday of August, and Barcelona celebrates La Mercè in late September.
Where travelers meet
Tapas bars, markets like La Boqueria, beach promenades and walking tours. Dinner is late, often after nine, so meeting for a drink and tapas before is common.
