2026 costs for Queenstown
Queenstown Is Worth Seeing And Expensive To Do: NZ$199 Jet Boats, NZ$320 Bungy, NZ$100 Levy
By RuinMyTrip Editorial

Practical tips
Editorial- Pay the NZ$100 International Visitor Levy and request the NZeTA from NZ$17 through the official Immigration New Zealand app before you fly, because both are required and non-refundable.
- Buy a NZ$5 Bee Card on arrival, since it drops the airport bus fare from NZ$10 cash to NZ$2.50 and cuts every other Orbus trip to NZ$2.50.
- If you only do one paid attraction, the Skyline Gondola at NZ$69 adult gives the town's defining view, and adding three luge rides brings it to NZ$99.
- Book the Milford Sound day trip from NZ$292 knowing it is five hours of coach each way with departures from 6.45am, so it consumes an entire day.
- Travel in April, May, October or November to avoid both the mid-June to early October ski peak and the December to February summer crush.
- Allow well over the map estimate for any drive through Frankton, because the NZ$250 million SH6/SH6A intersection rebuild started in April 2024 and runs about four years.

The editorial review above is desk research. What this page actually needs is somebody who went. If that is you, the honest version, including the part that went wrong, is worth more here than a polished one.
- Rate it out of five, plus safety and value.
- Say what was great, in specifics.
- Say what nearly ruined the trip. This field is required.
