Practical tips
Editorial- Do not go during Holy Week. The island's 19,215-person carrying capacity has been breached every Holy Week since 2022, and in 2026 arrivals hit 21,252 on April 14 and 22,519 on April 15.
- Budget for the fee stack at the jetty port, not just the airfare: a P300 terminal fee, an environmental fee of P150 for domestic and P300 for foreign visitors, and a P50 to P100 boat transfer, paid at separate windows in Caticlan.
- Expect the cashless system. Malay's Executive Order No. 45 of December 3, 2025 mandates cashless payment through Boracay i-Pass, and the convenience fee rose from P35 to P85 on March 1, 2026.
- Avoid February through May if algae bothers you. Seasonal green algae blooms wash up on White Beach during those months; they are natural and harmless but they are not the postcard.
- Pick your Station deliberately. Station 1 is the widest sand and the priciest, Station 2 is the busy commercial middle, and Station 3 is the quieter budget end of the same four-kilometre beach.
- Bring reef-safe sunscreen and skip single-use plastics. Both are part of the post-2018 rules, alongside restrictions on smoking and drinking on the beach and regulated boat access.
