Share your experienceAnne Frank House charges 16.50 euros for adults, 7 euros for visitors aged 10 to 17 and 1 euro for children aged 0 to 9, each figure including a 1 euro booking fee. It opens daily from 9:00. The single most important practical fact is that entry is by timed online ticket. People still turn up at the door expecting to queue, and that is not how the museum works. Museumkaart and ICOM cardholders still pay the 1 euro booking fee, and the I amsterdam Card gives no discount here. The museum itself is deliberately austere. There is very little staging, the rooms behind the bookcase are largely empty, and the effect depends on that emptiness. It is the least theatrical major museum in the city and by some distance the most affecting.
What was great
The price is low for what it is, and the child and youth rates are genuinely cheap. The presentation is restrained and trusts the material rather than dramatising it. Opening from 9:00 daily gives an early slot that is quieter and, for this particular site, considerably better.
What nearly ruined the trip
You cannot simply turn up: entry is timed and online, and slots go quickly. The I amsterdam Card gives no discount, and even Museumkaart and ICOM holders pay the 1 euro booking fee. The house is small and the staircases are steep and narrow, which constrains both pace and access.
