Forty-Eight Zloty for Crostini, Open Until Half Ten
Review of Miod Malina
Been to Krakow? This page needs you more than it needs us.
A first-hand review outranks desk research every time, and yours will sit above this one.
Share your experienceMiod Malina charges 48 zloty for crostini misti and 72 zloty for spicy prawns. It opens Monday to Thursday 13:00 to 21:30 and Friday to Sunday 12:00 to 22:00. The name means honey raspberry, and the room is exactly what that suggests: small, warm, hand-painted, and about as far from a themed pierogi hall as Krakow gets. The cooking is Polish with a strong Italian streak, which sounds like a compromise and is in fact the house style, done deliberately for two decades. It is on Grodzka, the street running from the main square to Wawel, which means it is in the middle of everything and still needs booking.
What was great
Polish-Italian cooking done with conviction rather than as a hedge. A small hand-painted room with actual atmosphere. On Grodzka, so it fits into any Old Town day without a detour.
What nearly ruined the trip
Small, so tables go quickly and walk-ins are optimistic. Prices are at the upper end for Krakow. The Grodzka location means the street outside is a constant procession of tour groups.
