Share your experienceOskar Schindler's Enamel Factory, a branch of the Museum of Krakow, charges 60 PLN for a normal ticket and 45 PLN reduced, with a family ticket for up to four people at 120 PLN. It opens Monday 10:00 to 15:00 and Tuesday to Sunday 9:00 to 20:00, and closes on the first Tuesday of each month. The common misconception is that this is a Schindler museum. It is not. The permanent exhibition is about Krakow under German occupation between 1939 and 1945, and the factory is the setting rather than the subject. Schindler's office is preserved, but the exhibition around it belongs to the city, not to him. That turns out to be the better museum. It is built as a walk-through of occupied Krakow, street by street, with reconstructed interiors, and it is one of the most effective wartime exhibitions in Europe precisely because it refuses to make the story about one rescuer.
What was great
An immersive, street-level reconstruction of an occupied city rather than a wall of text. Free admission on Mondays. Long opening hours in summer, to 20:00, which makes late afternoon a real option.
What nearly ruined the trip
It is small, dark and extremely popular, and timed slots sell out days ahead in summer. Sixty zloty is at the top of the Krakow museum range. Visitors expecting the film's story leave disappointed, and the crowding in the narrow reconstructed corridors is genuinely uncomfortable at peak times.
