Official Review

What it is

A small Polish-Italian restaurant on Grodzka in Krakow's Old Town, between the main square and Wawel, open for two decades.

Why travelers eat here

For Polish cooking that has absorbed an Italian kitchen rather than resisting it, in a room that feels like somebody's house instead of a tourist hall.

What is genuinely good

A distinctive kitchen, a hand-painted dining room, a location on the route between the square and the castle, and long weekend hours.

Downsides

Very small. Books out. Upper-end Krakow prices. A busy street outside.

Best for

Anyone who wants a proper dinner in the Old Town without a folk show attached.

Consider eating elsewhere if

You are after classic milk-bar Polish food at milk-bar prices, which Krakow does very well elsewhere.

Practical advice

Book, particularly at weekends. Go early in the week if you want the room quiet. The courtyard tables are the ones to ask for in summer.

Prices and reservations

A la carte, with starters from 48 zloty. Reservations by phone or online and strongly advised.

Getting there

On Grodzka, a five-minute walk south from the Main Market Square towards Wawel.

Where it sits

Grodzka Street in the Old Town, on the Royal Route between the market square and Wawel castle.

How long to allow

An hour and a half.

The RuinMyTrip verdict

Book ahead and go early in the week. The most likeable dining room in the Old Town, and the Italian streak is the point rather than a compromise.

Forty-Eight Zloty for Crostini, Open Until Half Ten

Miod Malina charges 48 zloty for crostini misti and 72 zloty for spicy prawns. It opens Monday to Thursday 13:00 to 21:30 and Friday to Sunday 12:00 to 22:00. The name means honey raspberry, and the room is exactly what that suggests: small, warm, hand-painted, and about as far from a themed pierogi hall as Krakow gets. The cooking is Polish with a strong Italian streak, which sounds like a compromise and is in fact…
