Share your experienceHotel d'Angleterre has 92 rooms including 55 suites, and sits at Kongens Nytorv 34 in the historic centre. Rates are not published as a fixed figure and move with season and availability, so treat any number quoted elsewhere with suspicion. It has been a hotel since 1755 and occupies the whole north side of Kongens Nytorv, which is the square Nyhavn runs off and where the metro, the royal theatre and Stroget all meet. If you want to walk everywhere in Copenhagen, this is the address that makes that true. What you are paying for is position and the standard of a properly staffed grand hotel: a Michelin-starred restaurant on site, a spa in the basement, and a concierge who will actually be useful.
What was great
The best-placed hotel in Copenhagen, with Nyhavn, the metro and the shopping street all within two minutes. Ninety-two rooms, large enough to be properly staffed and small enough to be attentive.
What nearly ruined the trip
Very expensive, and the published rates are promotional rather than a real price list, so budgeting means getting a quote. Kongens Nytorv is a working square with traffic and, in summer, a constant flow of people. Grand-hotel formality is not to everyone's taste.
