Practical tips
Editorial- Load a Compass Card and expect $2.85 to $5.40 per SkyTrain or bus ride depending on zones crossed, plus a $6.50 AddFare specifically for trips through YVR Airport as of July 1, 2026.
- Skip Stanley Park's paid lots if you're on a budget: the park itself and its seawall are free, but parking runs up to $17.75 a day in summer, so consider transit or a bike share drop instead.
- Book Capilano Suspension Bridge tickets online in advance rather than at the gate; adult admission runs roughly $75 to $80 CAD before tax, with lower rates for youth, children, and seniors.
- Avoid downtown hotel bookings for June 13 through July 7, 2026 if possible, that window covers all seven of Vancouver's FIFA World Cup matches at BC Place and pricing is running far above normal summer rates.
- If cost is the priority, target January, February, or November, when hotel rates have historically run 25 to 40 percent below the June through August peak.
- Give the Downtown Eastside a wide berth after dark and stick to Robson Street, Coal Harbour, or the West End instead; it's a small, well defined area and easy to avoid without cutting into a normal sightseeing itinerary.
