Naples tourist tax 2026: 6.00 euro per night in four and five star hotels from 1 May

Naples charges 6.00 euro per person per night in four and five star hotels and in short term rentals from 1 May 2026, capped at 14 consecutive nights, per the Comune di Napoli.

The rates

Naples charges 6.00 euro per person per night in four star and five star hotels and in short term rentals from 1 May 2026, according to the Comune di Napoli's own imposta di soggiorno page. The schedule set by municipal resolution number 89 of 12 March 2026 reads: 6.00 euro for five star and five star luxury hotels, 6.00 euro for four star, 5.50 euro for three star, 4.50 euro for two star, 4.00 euro for one star, 5.50 euro for accommodation outside the hotel category and 6.00 euro for short term rentals. That is one euro above the rates the city applied at the start of the year.

How many nights you pay for

The city states that the tax "is paid per person and per overnight stay, up to a maximum of 14 consecutive days", so a long stay stops accruing after two weeks. Article 7 of the municipal regulation sets out the exemptions, which the page references rather than lists.

A worked example

Two people, five nights, a four star hotel in Naples in June 2026. The tax is 6.00 times 2 times 5, or 60 euro on top of the room price. The same stay in a three star hotel is 55 euro, in a one star hotel 40 euro, and booked as a short term rental 60 euro. A month long stay for one person in a four star hotel is capped at 14 nights, so 84 euro rather than 180 euro.

What is still unclear is the exact start date. The city says the increase takes effect on the first day of the second month after the act is published on the Ministry of Economy and Finance website, so 1 May depends on that publication holding.
