Edinburgh Castle tickets 2026: 23.50 pounds online, 26 at the gate

An adult ticket is 23.50 pounds booked online against 26 pounds on the day, and the castle warns tickets often sell out far in advance.
For 2026, an adult ticket to Edinburgh Castle costs 23.50 pounds booked online and 26 pounds bought on the day at the castle, according to the castle's own ticket page. Children aged 7 to 15 pay 14 pounds online against 15.50 at the gate. Concessions, meaning visitors aged 65 and over or unemployed, pay 19 pounds online against 21.
Family tickets
The page lists three family options. One adult with two children is 48.50 online or 54 at the gate. Two adults with two children is 67.50 online or 74.50. Two adults with three children is 80 online or 88.50. The saving for booking ahead is 8.50 pounds on the largest family ticket.
The rule that actually costs people money
Standard tickets are timed, and the page says tickets often sell out far in advance, and that once they are gone online no further tickets are available at the castle. Turning up hoping to pay the higher walk up price is therefore not a reliable plan in peak season. The Flexi ticket, sold online only at 38 pounds adult, 22.50 child and 30.50 concession, drops the timeslot and lets you visit on any day inside a seven day window.
A worked example
Two adults and two children booking online pay 67.50 pounds on the family ticket, against 75 pounds for four separate online tickets and 74.50 pounds if they turned up and paid at the gate. The same four on Flexi tickets would pay 121 pounds, which is the price of not committing to a date.
