Banff park pass 2026: 12.25 dollars per adult per day, free until September 7

Banff National Park charges 12.25 dollars per adult for a daily pass in 2026, according to the fee page Parks Canada publishes for the park itself. Seniors pay 10.75 dollars, youth aged 17 and under enter free, and a family or group travelling in one vehicle pays 24.50 dollars for the day.

The free window in 2026

The same page states that the Canada Strong Pass with Parks Canada ends September 7, 2026, and that from September 8 visitors are required to buy a valid daily park pass or an annual Discovery Pass. Entry to Banff therefore costs nothing up to that date and returns to the posted rates the day after, which matters if your trip straddles the changeover.

Day pass or annual pass

The Discovery Pass on the same page is 83.50 dollars for an adult, 71.50 dollars for a senior and 167.50 dollars for a family or group. For a family driving in after September 8, six separate days at 24.50 dollars comes to 147 dollars, still under the annual pass. A seventh day takes the total to 171.50 dollars, so the Discovery Pass is the cheaper option from the seventh day of entry onward.

What is still unclear

The fee page does not say whether the 2026 daily rates carry into 2027, so anyone planning a trip past this year should read it again before budgeting.
