The published rates

Parks Canada lists 12.25 dollars for an adult day pass, 10.75 for a senior, free entry for youth, and 24.50 for a family or group. The annual Discovery Pass, which covers Banff and the rest of the national park network, is 83.50 for an adult, 71.50 for a senior and 167.50 for a family or group.

The date that matters

The same page states that the Canada Strong Pass ends on 7 September 2026, after which visitors will be required to buy a valid daily park pass or an annual Discovery Pass. Anyone planning a trip after that date needs to budget for entry again, and anyone arriving before it should check what is still covered.

Worked example

A family driving in for a week pays 24.50 a day, or 171.50 for seven days. The family Discovery Pass is 167.50, so the annual pass is already cheaper on the seventh day and then stays valid for a year across every national park. A solo adult hits the same crossover: six days at 12.25 is 73.50, while the adult Discovery Pass is 83.50, so the pass wins from day seven. Anyone staying four nights or more should price the annual pass before paying at the gate.
