Share your experienceThe Eiffel Tower is the one Paris sight where a good visit and a wasted afternoon are decided before you arrive, at the moment you pick a ticket type and a time slot. Official adult pricing is 23,50 euros for the second floor by lift and 36,70 euros for the summit by lift. Youth aged 12 to 24 pay 11,80 and 18,40, children aged 4 to 11 and disabled visitors pay 6,00 and 9,20, and under 4s are free. The stairs are the quiet bargain: the same second floor on foot is 14,80 euros for an adult. What you are buying is height and one specific view, which is the view of Paris that does not have the Eiffel Tower in it. That is the old joke and it is also the honest reason to consider Montparnasse instead if a photograph is the point.
What was great
The second-floor view is the genuinely great one, close enough that the city reads as streets and roofs rather than a map. The youth band runs all the way to 24 and under-4s are free, which is unusually generous for a landmark this size. The stair ticket at 14,80 euros is both cheaper and usually faster than the lift queue.
What nearly ruined the trip
The summit costs 13,20 euros more than the second floor for a view that is further away and more crowded, and it is first to close in high wind. Resellers outrank the official site and charge more for the identical timed slot. The Champ de Mars approach is worked hard by bracelet and petition scammers.
