Rome tourist tax 2026: 4 to 10 euros per person per night, capped at 10 nights

Rome's contributo di soggiorno runs from 4 euros a night in a one star hotel to 10 euros in a five star in 2026, for at most 10 consecutive nights, per the city's own tariff table.
Rome charges between 4 and 10 euros per person per night in 2026. The tariff table published by Roma Capitale lists a one star hotel at "Euro 4,00", two stars at 5,00 euros, three stars at 6,00 euros, four stars at 7,50 euros and "Albergo a 5 stelle o a maggiore classificazione" at "Euro 10,00". Every hotel line carries a maximum of 10 nights.
Outside hotels
The same table sets 6,00 euros for bed and breakfasts, agriturismi, country houses, category 1 holiday apartments and property let on short lets, 5,00 euros for category 2 holiday apartments, 3,50 euros for hostels and mountain refuges, and 3,00 euros for campsites and camper areas, where the cap falls to 5 nights.
What a stay costs
Two adults spending four nights in a four star hotel pay 7,50 euros each per night, so 60 euros on top of the room rate. The cap matters on longer trips: a couple staying 14 nights in a three star pays for 10 nights each at 6,00 euros, which is 120 euros rather than 168.
What is still unclear
The official table is the one issued for stays from 1 October 2023, and we found no city page announcing a revision for 2026.
