Foreign visitors to Hagia Sophia pay 25 euros in 2026, according to the Turkish culture ministry's own museum page for the building. The price is quoted in euros rather than lira, which means it does not drift with the exchange rate the way most Turkish museum prices do.

What the ticket covers

The ministry page says the ticket lets you see the sanctuary floor of the mosque and the Ottoman period annexes, pass through the Marble Door, and examine the Byzantine period mosaics. It also includes an augmented reality experience delivered through mobile headsets in 23 languages, which is bundled rather than sold separately.

Hours and the closures that catch people

The page gives opening hours of 9am to 7:30pm every day, labelling those as the 2025 hours. Two closures matter more than the price. The visiting area shuts between 12 and 2 on Fridays for Friday prayers, and the praying area is closed to visitors from the morning prayer until 10am each day for cleaning and maintenance. A Friday lunchtime slot is the single worst arrival time in the week.

A worked example

A couple pays 50 euros. A family of two adults and two teenagers pays 100 euros, because the ministry page publishes no child, student or senior reduction against the 25 euro foreign visitor rate. What is not clear from that page is whether the hours it labels 2025 carry into 2026 unchanged.
