Share your experienceThe Museum of the Future charges 169 AED for an entry ticket for visitors aged four and over. It opens every day from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, with last admission at 5:00 pm. The building is the attraction: a silver torus covered in Arabic calligraphy, with a void through the middle and no visible columns. It is one of the genuinely striking pieces of architecture built anywhere this century, and Dubai knows it. Inside is not a museum in any conventional sense. It is a sequence of immersive, theatrical sets about space stations, bioengineering and wellness, closer to a very expensive themed experience than to a collection. Whether that is worth 169 dirhams depends entirely on what you thought you were buying.
What was great
The building, inside and out, is extraordinary and photographs badly compared to standing in it. The set design and production values are as high as anything in the world. Timed entry keeps it from becoming a crush.
What nearly ruined the trip
There is no collection, nothing old and nothing that will surprise a sceptic. A hundred and sixty-nine dirhams is a lot for roughly ninety minutes. It sells out days ahead, and the ticket is date and time specific with no flexibility.
