Phuket hotel tax 2026: 7 percent VAT and no arrival fee yet

Thailand's Revenue Department puts VAT at 7 percent in 2026, the official arrival card is free, and the proposed 300 baht entry fee has been pushed back again.
Thailand charges 7 percent value added tax in 2026, and that is the only broad government tax on a Phuket hotel bill. The Revenue Department states on its own VAT page that "currently, the rate is 7 percent". No Thai government page sets out a separate nightly city or bed tax for Phuket.
The arrival card is free
Every foreign arrival files a Thailand Digital Arrival Card. The official site run by the Immigration Bureau titles itself "Official Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) No Fees Required", so the paperwork itself costs nothing.
The fee that keeps being delayed
The Nation, a Thai news outlet, reports that the Ministry of Tourism and Sports has pushed its planned entry charge of "300 baht for air arrivals and 150 baht for land or sea entries" to the second or third quarter of 2026. That is a news report about a pending change, not a tax in force.
What a stay costs
A room advertised at 4,000 baht per night for five nights comes to 20,000 baht, and 7 percent VAT adds 1,400 baht. Hotels commonly add a service charge as well, which is a private charge and not a tax. Whether the 300 baht fee actually starts during 2026 is not settled on any official page.
