Manila departure tax 2026: 1,620 pesos economy Philippine travel tax

TIEZA sets the full Philippine travel tax at 1,620 pesos economy and 2,700 pesos first class in 2026, with short stay foreign visitors outside its scope.

Leaving Manila carries a Philippine travel tax of 1,620 pesos in economy and 2,700 pesos in first class in 2026, according to the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority, the government corporation that collects it. TIEZA describes the tax as a levy on individuals leaving the country, imposed under Presidential Decree 1183 as amended, regardless of where the air ticket was issued.

Who actually pays

TIEZA lists the payers of the full tax as citizens of the Philippines, taxable foreign passport holders, and non immigrant foreign passport holders who have stayed in the Philippines for more than one year. A visitor on a short tourist stay therefore falls outside the full travel tax.

Reduced rates and a worked example

The standard reduced tax is 810 pesos in economy and 1,350 in first class, and the privileged reduced rate for a dependent of an overseas Filipino worker is 300 pesos in economy. A family of four residents flying economy in 2026 pays 6,480 pesos at the full rate, or 3,240 pesos if all four qualify for the standard reduced rate.

What is still unclear

Whether the tax is already inside an airline fare or collected at a counter before departure varies by carrier, and TIEZA runs a separate refund process, so a passenger who was exempt but paid has to claim the money back afterwards.
