Giraffe Centre tickets 2026: 1,500 shillings for non resident adults

The Giraffe Centre in Karen charges 1,500 Kenyan shillings for a non resident adult in 2026 and 750 shillings for a non resident child aged 3 to 12, according to the centre's own website. Residents pay 400 shillings as adults and 200 shillings for children aged 3 to 12. Children below 3 years of age are free. At roughly 130 shillings to the dollar the non resident adult price is a little under 12 dollars.

Resident means East African, not just Kenyan

The centre defines the resident charge as applying to guests who are either citizens of, or hold a work permit for, any of the East African Community countries. That is a wider definition than most Kenyan attractions use and it is worth knowing if anyone in the party holds a Ugandan, Tanzanian or Rwandan passport, because the difference is 1,100 shillings per adult.

Opening and timing

The centre states that it is open daily from 9:00 in the morning to 5:00 in the afternoon. Feeding is spread through the day rather than restricted to set sessions, but the giraffes are most active early, so the first two hours are the practical window. There is no published online versus gate price difference, so the figures above are what you pay at the entrance.

What a family pays

Two non resident adults and two children aged 3 to 12 pay 1,500 plus 1,500 plus 750 plus 750, which is 4,500 shillings, about 35 dollars. A resident family of the same shape pays 1,200 shillings.

The centre publishes prices only in shillings and does not state whether cards are accepted, so the dollar cost moves with the exchange rate and cash may be needed.
