Cape Town Table Mountain cableway 2026: 475 rand return online, 530 at the ticket office

The cableway's own price list puts an adult return at 475 rand online and 530 rand at the ticket office, valid from 1 July 2026. A family of four saves 190 rand by booking online.

A return ride on the Table Mountain cableway costs 475 rand for an adult booking online and 530 rand for an adult buying at the ticket office. Both figures come from the cableway's own ticket page, which marks the price list as valid from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027.

The full price list

Online, an adult one way ticket is 300 rand, and a child aged 4 to 17 pays 230 rand return or 165 rand one way. At the ticket office the same tickets are 330 rand for an adult one way, 270 rand for a child return and 180 rand for a child one way. Booking online therefore saves 55 rand on an adult return and 40 rand on a child return, before you count the time saved.

A worked example

Two adults and two children riding up and down pay 475 plus 475 plus 230 plus 230, or 1,410 rand, when booked online. The same four tickets bought at the ticket office come to 1,600 rand, so a family pays 190 rand more for turning up without a booking. The cableway also warns that an online ticket still does not remove the queue on a busy day.

What is still unclear

This price list covers the cable car only. The conservation fee that South African National Parks charges for parts of Table Mountain National Park is set separately, and its official rates page could not be read for this article, so budget for that on top if you plan to enter the park on foot elsewhere.
