Standard general admission starts at 44 dollars, a combination ticket at 54, the all-inclusive experience at 64 and a VIP tour at 74. That ladder is the defining feature of the visit. Where the Empire State Building sells you a deck, this sells you a tiered experience, and the difference between the tiers is largely about queueing and extras rather than about the view, which is identical from all of them. The view is entirely behind glass. That is a genuine trade against the Empire State Building's open-air 86th floor, and it is the single thing most likely to decide which one you should pick.
What was great
It is the highest view in the city and the glass is floor to ceiling, so the outlook is uninterrupted. The harbour, the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges all sit in one sweep, which no Midtown observatory can offer. Security and crowd handling are efficient.
What nearly ruined the trip
Everything is behind glass, so there is no open-air option at any price. The four-tier ticket ladder from 44 to 74 dollars makes the real cost hard to pin down before you start. The lift presentation and the routing through retail make it feel like a produced attraction rather than a viewpoint.
